In this post, I will explain what are manual monitors?
Manual monitors are monitors that do not actively monitor any resources. You can use them if you are using an external monitoring tool and can ping Fyipe API to create incidents.
They can also be helpful to create manual incidents for your customers and show them on status page.
Manual monitors can be created in just 2 simple steps.
Step 1: Create a component.
Think of components like folders that contain other Fyipe resources and one of the resources it has is called “Monitors”.
They can help you to monitor security measures and manage logs of any of your resources.
They can also help you get SMS Alerts, Call Alerts, or Email Alerts during downtime.
So we click on “Create Component” and provide the name of our component, let’s say, “Test” and click on “Add Component”.
That’s it…we have successfully created a new component.
Step 2: Add a Manual monitor to your component.
Now, we need to provide the name of our Manual Monitor, let’s say: “Manual Monitor” and click on “Manual”.
You can also provide the Description of your Manual Monitor, as to what it does.
Let’s click on “Add Monitor”.
Your Manual Monitor is now successfully created and added to your component.
This is how it looks like when Fyipe is monitoring your Manual Monitor.
Now, let’s say your Manual Monitor is down.
Let me simulate what happens when it goes down.
I’m creating this incident manually, but Fyipe will automatically create one for you when it is down.
You will be alerted when an incident is created.
You can also acknowledge an incident when someone is actively working to resolve it.
And you can resolve it when you finish working on it.
So that’s how easily you can create a Manual Monitor on Fyipe in just 2 simple steps.
